2 Louisiana teens were killed on Saturday after a police officer allegedly ran a red light during a high-speed chase and crashed into their vehicle.

The two girls, aged 17 and 16, were not involved in the chase.

According to WBRZ, the officer was involved in a high-speed chase of a stolen vehicle.

Killed in the crash were 17-year-old Maggie Dunn and 16-year-old Caroline Gill and, according to the report, both attended Brusly Hich School.

The chase began Saturday morning when authorities say that Tyquel Zanders allegedly illegally entered a family member's home and then stole a vehicle.

Police located the vehicle and gave chase through two parishes, with the chase coming to end on Interstate 10.

The crash, according to WBRZ, took place in Brusly on Louisiana Highway 1, when a police officer from the Addis Police Department allegedly ran a red light, crashing into the vehicle Dunn and Gill were in.

Zander will now be charged with breaking into the relative's home, theft of the vehicle, fleeing police, and manslaughter.

Dunn's brother, Liam, a UL student, was critically injured in the crash that killed his sister.
