Billboard Remembers Kids Murdered in Shreveport Shooting
(Shreveport, Louisiana) - As a community continues to mourn the loss of eight children in a mass shooting, someone in Shreveport spotted a billboard honoring each of the victims.
Last weekend, eight kids were murdered in a Shreveport neighborhood by Shmar Elkins. Seven of the kids that he shot were his own kids.
Elkins was ultimately tracked down, chased, and shot by police, where he died.
Now, not only is the city of Shreveport mourning the tragic loss of these kids, but the entire state of Louisiana is asking, why? How could someone do this to their own kids/
Since this tragic story swept the country, Governor Jeff Landry announced that First Lady Sharon Landry’s foundation, Love One Louisiana, woulld pay for the funeral expenses of all the victims in this horrific crime.
Murdered last Sunday morning, three boys and five girls, ranging in age from 3 to 11 years old,
Killed were Jayla Elkins, 3, Shayla Elkins, 5, Kayla Pugh, 6, Layla Pugh, 7, Markaydon Pugh, 10, Sariahh Snow, 11, Khedarrion Snow, 6, and Braylon Snow, 5.
While words may not heal this community's loss, they are doing their best to honor these innocent souls, and the photo of one billboard in Shreveport really puts things into perspective.
On the billboard are the names of these kids that should still be with us today, and a candle over each name. The oldest with the largest candle, and the youngest with the smallest candle. The candles are a symbol of each kid.
Here's the emotional billboard spotted in North Louisiana, and to whoever is responsible for this, we salute you. Shreveport and the state of Louisiana should always honor and remember the names of these innocent kids.
