Is it even possible for someone in Louisiana to have a favorite restaurant in another state? Yeah, it's possible when the restaurant is in Gulf Shores, Alabama a frequent vacation spot for folks who live in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Alexandria, and other Louisiana cities.

And when you consider the fact that this eating establishment has been making breakfast for hungry beachgoers for almost six decades it's entirely possible that most of us have had a meal there. The place we are speaking of is Hazel's Nook. You just shook your head, didn't you? Hazel's Nook is shutting its doors on July 15th.

Richard Schwartz is the owner of Hazel's Nook. He and his family also operate a few other iconic eateries along the Alabama coast. They also run Doc's Seafood Shack and Oyster Bar. The family also operates Doc's Seafood and Steaks in Orange Beach, Alabama too. Fortunately, those businesses will not be affected by the closure of Hazel's Nook.

Schwartz told Al.com he had originally planned to close Hazel's Nook and then reopen it as Doc's Seafood Shack but he was approached by another entrepreneur who offered to buy the Hazel's Nook building. That offer was accepted and the new operator plans to continue operating the facility as a breakfast and lunch place but under different branding.

As of this report, the deal to sell Hazel's to the new owner was not finalized so the new owner's identity nor details of the planned changes have been revealed. I am sure the new place will be wonderful but it won't be Hazel's Nook. And for a lot of us who spent more than a few sandy summers in Gulf Shores, it won't be exactly the same. But then again, it could be an opportunity to start new traditions and enjoy new experiences.

Since we're feeling all nostalgic and whatnot, How many of these 12 stores do you remember?
