Livingston Parish Couple Arrested After Animal Abuse Investigation

BATON ROUGE, La. - A Livingston Parish man and woman are facing multiple felony charges after an investigation into allegations involving the sexual abuse of an animal, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.

Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office say the investigation remains active, and both suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Denham Springs Residents Arrested

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office identified the suspects as 31-year-old Johnny Wolinski and 31-year-old Sammie Sparks, both of Denham Springs.

Investigators said detectives obtained search warrants for both suspects' cellphones before conducting forensic examinations of the devices as part of the investigation.

Sheriff Jason Ard says, 'During the investigation, the two suspects named in the incident were 31 year old Johnny Wolinski (Denham Springs, LA) and 31 year old Sammie Sparks (Denham Springs, LA). The investigation led to search warrant seizures of both suspects’ cellphone devices and additional search warrants to forensically search those devices.'

Felony Charges Filed Against Both Suspects

According to WAFB, LPSO reports Wolinski was booked on three felony counts, including:

Sexual abuse of an animal — coercion of another person to commit abuse
Sexual abuse of an animal — organizing or participating in abuse
Sexual abuse of an animal — filming or possessing images related to the abuse

Sparks was booked on two felony counts:

Sexual abuse of an animal — organizing or participating in abuse
Sexual abuse of an animal — engaging in the act

Authorities said both suspects were booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

Investigators said the animal connected to the case had already died from causes unrelated to the alleged crimes.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says detectives continue to investigate the case and have not released additional information at this time.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and both Wolinski and Sparks are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
