(KMDL-FM) Things are supposed to be a little scary around Halloween. But Halloween is only pretend scary. The news that taco meal kits sold at stores across Louisiana and the Gulf South could kill you, well, that's really scary. Okay, this costume is scary, too.

Not only is it concerning, the recall and not the costume, but it's the actual truth: the USDA's Food Inspection Safety Service says the meal kits made by Teasdale Foods, an operation based out of Texas, but with facilities around the country, could have a potentially lethal packaging error that consumers should be aware of.

To allay your fears and concerns, the "life-threatening" side of this recall only affects individuals who have allergies to milk and milk products. If you don't have any medical issues with milk, your health will likely not be affected. But your sense of taste might be totally offended when you hear what this packaging mistake entails.

What Is the Disgusting Reason Taco Meal Kits Were Recalled?

The recall of the taco meal kits sold under the Casa Mamita brand was initiated following numerous consumer complaints. Most of the complaints were not about allergies; most of the complaints were about the taste of the product. And upon further review, those complaints were justified because the Casa Mamita Taco Meal Kits included in this recall included coca mix packets labeled as taco seasoning packets.

Can you imagine biting into a taco that doesn't taste at all as if it's been seasoned with chili, cumin, garlic, salt, pepper, and some other flavorful spices but instead tastes more like a beef-flavored bite of Swiss Miss Cocoa? That's pretty gross, actually, but that's what happened.

Which Stores Sold The Recalled Taco Meal Kits?

Of course, an unsuspecting person with a milk allergy could have an even worse experience than those whose taste buds were offended. The Casa Mamita Taco Meal Kits were distributed to Giant, Martin's, and Aldi Stores in a number of states, including  Louisiana and Mississippi.  Here is what the product's packaging looks like.
