ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — A 16-year-old from the Dry Prong area is facing charges of trespassing and criminal damage in connection to vandalism earlier this month at the Pisgah Baptist Church and Community Cemetery in Rapides Parish.

Sheriff's deputies tell The Town Talk the juvenile was arrested Monday. The investigation is continuing to determine if there are other suspects in the case.

On Oct. 21, Sheriff William Earl Hilton says deputies responded to a call from the church and they found that the church's windows had been shattered and that 12 of the tombstone, some about 100 years old, had been damaged, overturned or cracked.

It's estimated that the damage to the church was about $500, and the damage to the headstones was between $11,000 to $15,000.
