Kennedy, Campbell Head To Runoff For Senate Seat
Democrat Foster Campbell is gearing up to face Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy in the December 10th U.S. Senate runoff. Analysts says Kennedy is the favorite to win but Campbell hopes his position as a non-political insider will resonate with voters.
“We’re reaching out to anybody in Louisiana that wants an independent voice that represents the people, I need the help. I will admit, right off the bat, raising money as a Democrat is hard.”
Campbell says if elected, he promises to work with both parties to do what’s best for Louisiana.
“When the Republicans are right, I’ll vote with them and when the Democrats are right I’ll certainly be with them but I have the courage to stand up and do the right thing and when it’s wrong for the people of Louisiana, I won’t be on that side, no matter whose it is.”
Kennedy came out as the frontrunner in the runoff with 25-percent of the vote in the primary. Kennedy says he will represent the people of Louisiana in Washington.
“We worked as hard as we could, I left it all on the field and told the people of Louisiana what I stand for, why I want to be a U.S. Senator.”
Kennedy says he’s running to protect the taxpayer and to get his country back.
“I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing, telling people why I want to be a U.S. Senator. This election is about change, you either think our country is headed in the right direction or you don’t, I don’t.”
