YOUNGSVILLE, LA – Acadiana’s own Malik Nabers is making a return home in style! The Lafayette native, former LSU football star, and current wide receiver for the New York Giants has been named the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade.

Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter made the official announcement, expressing excitement over welcoming Nabers back to the community that helped shape him.

“Malik Nabers is a true success story,” Mayor Ritter said. “From his roots in Acadiana to his achievements on the national stage, he has made us all proud. We are thrilled to welcome him home to Youngsville and celebrate his accomplishments as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade. His dedication and perseverance serve as an inspiration to young athletes across our region.”

Nabers, who began his high school career at Comeaux High before transferring to Southside High, rose to national prominence at LSU.

As one of the most dynamic wide receivers in college football, he set records and made highlight-reel plays that solidified his status as a top NFL prospect. Selected sixth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, Nabers wasted no time making an impact. In his rookie season, he shattered the NFL record for most receptions by a rookie wide receiver, hauling in 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. His amazing performance earned him a spot in the 2025 Pro Bowl.
