An investigation is underway following a deputy-involved shooting in Carencro in which a suspect was shot and killed while authorities were trying to execute an arrest warrant.

The incident happened on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in the 400 block of Wagon Trail Road in Carencro around 7:45 pm.

News 15 is reporting the deceased man's name is Tony Pollard. He was under investigation for a series of violent crimes that happened over the last several days.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office said that Pollard was wanted for an armed robbery that took place on July 4 in which two guns were stolen. He was also named a suspect in at least two other cases involving guns since then.

When deputies arrived at the location to serve the warrant, they said that Pollard refused to comply with commands given by the deputies and "moved in a threatening manner which resulted in the deputies responding with deadly force."

Pollard was pronounced dead on the scene. Louisiana State Police said that none of the deputies were harmed during the incident.
