Santa Claus is coming to town as the Lafayette Sonic Christmas Parade is set for 1 pm this Sunday, December 2nd.

One of the oldest Christmas traditions in Lafayette, the parade will kick off in downtown Lafayette at the Jefferson Street underpass and make its way to the Oil Center where it will wrap up.

Featuring several floats, high school marching bands, dance clubs and more, the annual parade marks the official arrival of Santa Claus.

The Sonic Christmas Parade also recognizes veterans, and being that the event falls so close to Veteran's Day, veterans from every branch of the military are invited to march (or ride) in the parade.

Transportation will be provided and there is no charge to participate. Veterans are asked to arrive at noon and to wear their uniforms or colors. Veterans are to report to Vine St between 2nd St and Jefferson St at noon and they will be directed to their position in the parade.

Kids should bring their letters to Santa with them to the parade because they will be collected and mailed directly to the North Pole!
