Carencro Police Highlight Regulations Before Annual Mardi Gras Parade
Citizens in Carencro, Louisiana are excited about their annual Mardi Gras parade that happens on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and police there want everyone to be aware of a few things.
For starters, the Carencro Police have announced that all roads along the parade route will close at 9:45am on the day of the parade, and the floats will begin rolling by 11 am. For those who live along the parade route in Carencro, you will not be able to leave your property for several hours, so plan ahead.
Parking For Parade
In addition to road closures, the police agency announced that any vehicle blocking a roadway will be towed at the owner’s expense; this includes trailers and items placed along the parade route. For the safety of others parking along the parade route will not be allowed until daylight on the morning of the parade, February 15, 2025.
For many years, vehicles were parked along the parade route in Carencro to "claim their spot," but paradegoers will not be allowed to park until the morning of the parade.
Vulgar or Explicit Music and Items
It has been an ongoing debate for years about the music played in Mardi Gras parades, and now local law enforcement agencies around Acadiana are enforcing the "clean music policy. Here's what Carenco P.D. says about music played in and along the parade route this weekend, and what cannot be thrown from floats or sold along the route:
"No sexually oriented items or items depicting illegal drugs are allowed to be sold, thrown, or displayed at the event. No vulgar music will be tolerated by event goers or on floats."
Illegal Items Along Parade Route
The mission for everyone associated with Mardi Gras parades is safety. All that anyone wants is for everyone to have a good time and a safe time during Mardi Gras. So, here's what Carencro Police had to say about what you cannot have at the parade in 2025.
"No glass containers are allowed along the route. Paintball guns, water guns, fog machines, and fireworks are prohibited. It’s illegal to conceal carry a firearm at a parade in Louisiana."
