Last Sears in Louisiana Hiring Workers To Help Close it Down

We've seen a lot of changes over the past few years.  One of the most dramatic is the so-called "Retail Apocalypse."  This refers to the evolving landscape of big-box stores and rock-steady mall residents that we've seen either shift to a more online-heavy presence - or go out of business.

Of course, the pandemic restrictions that were keeping people from crowding shopping areas didn't help - but this change was on the way long before the events of early 2020 altered the way everyone shopped.

One of the biggest and most heartbreaking to see stumble through this has been Sears.  Rarely has a retail store woven its way into the fabric of our lives like Sears.  You probably shopped there, as did your parents, their parents, and most likely their parents, too.  Sears was the king of order from home and have it delivered - basically trailblazing every service (like Amazon) that would ultimately put it out of business.

Now, the last Sears in the great state of Louisiana is preparing to shut its doors for good.  At the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge one of the finest Sears locations in the nation started a search for new employees this weekend - a cashier and a backroom worker.  According to the Advocate, these (most likely) final 2 workers will focus mainly on shutting down the 24-year old store.

Similar operations are happening across the nation as Sears continues its wind down.  After the dust clears on this latest round of closings, there will reportedly only be 31 locations still open for business in the United States.
