
Louisiana Should Prepare for Another Hard Freeze
Winter in the deep South is not over, even after a week of Spring-like weather, and another hard freeze is expected.
For those who love the cold weather, we have some great news for you, and for those who prefer summer temperatures, well you're going to have to wait a bit longer.
Louisiana should prepare for way below-freezing temperatures once again, and you may even consider wrapping the pipes again in the days ahead.
Another Arctic blast is expected to reach Louisiana by next Thursday (February 20th) and the cold temperatures could stick around for a few days. A strong cold front will bring winter precipitation to the Ark-La-Tx region, and those in north Louisiana may even see another round of a wintery mix by late next week.
A few weeks ago we suggested that you not prune the plants or trees that may have been impacted by the snowstorm we had a few weeks ago, and this is why. Another blast of frigid could impact the south before Spring officially arrives, and if you cut trees or bushes after the snowstorm, they may have lost their "insulation."
For those who have pets outdoors, you should begin to prepare to accommodate them by next week. As for exposed pipes, well, you're probably going to want to consider wrapping them again, unless you still have them wrapped from a few weeks back.
We will continue to follow the potential threat for way below freezing temperatures next week, but it's never too soon to start planning. Here's a look at the extended forecast.

We may never see this again in South Louisiana, but temperatures next week could be 15-20 degrees below average, for this time of the year. What a week this was.
