Just hours after Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum suspended his campaign, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal declared his support for Mitt Romney.

Jindal congratulated Romney Tuesday "on winning a hard-fought race" and he looks forward to supporting Romney in "retiring President [Barak] Obama."

Jindal said Republicans should now focus on the fall elections, which he described as giving Americans a choice "between Obama's lurch toward European style big government and the Republican alternative of a thriving private sector with a smaller government."

Jindal had supported Texas Governor Rick Perry early in the election season, but Perry eventually dropped out of the race.

Santorum's drop from the race makes it more and more likely that Romney will win the Republican nomination.
