A strong blast of Arctic Air will reach Louisiana by next week and one weather model shows the possibility of snow in Acadiana.

KLFY New 10 Meteorologist Chris Cozart shared the GFS weather model on social media for next week, which is still a way out, and it shows the possibility of snow accumulation in South Louisiana next Tuesday.

Of course, the conditions would have to be ideal for this to happen, but it has happened before, so this may be something worth watching as we move through this week and into the weekend.

I ask, would you want snow in Acadiana? Sure, it could be a mess and an inconvenience, but I think that it would still be neat for the kids to experience.

Regardless if we get snow or not in Acadiana next week, you should prepare for some very cold days and nights ahead, and you should begin preparations around your house. Also, don't forget if you have pets outdoors you'll certainly want to make accommodations for them as well.

And while addressing staying warm, if you have not yet checked the batteries in your smoke alarms at home, now would be a great time to do so.

We will continue to follow this weather story and if there's any additional information we need to get out to you we will do so here and on this station's mobile app.

As for now, for those who hope for snow here, start your snow dances, and let's see what happens in about a week.

Here's the latest update from KLFY Meteorologist Trevor Sonnier, and models are starting to agree that snow will fall in parts of Louisiana next week.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
