Louisiana Sports Reporter Carley McCord Among the Five Killed in Lafayette Plane Crash
Louisiana sports reporter Carley McCord is the first person to be publicly identified as one of the five victims killed in the small plane crash this morning in Lafayette.
Her husband, Steven Ensminger Jr., confirmed the death to the Associated Press.
Ensminger's father is the offensive coordinator for the LSU football team. The team is playing Oklahoma this afternoon in the college football playoffs.
According to LSU, Ensminger will coach in the game today.
The 30-year-old McCord grew up in Baton Rouge. She graduated from LSU in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.
She worked in Baton Rouge radio for 100.7 The Tiger and 104.5 ESPN.
In the past few years, McCord has done tv work for Cox Sports Television, ESPN3, WDSU New Orleans, along with a variety of freelance sports reporting.
On January 26, 2018, McCord married Steven Ensimger Jr.
