It has now been over 48 hours since the Season Finale of The Falcon & The Winter Soldier premiered on Disney+, which means we can freely talk about it without spoiler warnings. So let's celebrate the fact that Captain America is now a Louisianan. Both the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU) Sam Wilson, and the actor who plays him Anthony Mackie, are from Louisiana.

The spoiler part that we were waiting to freely discuss is the fact that in the finale of The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, we saw Sam Wilson take up the Captain America shield he was given by Steve Rogers. He also showed up in an amazing Captain America/Falcon combo suit built by the folks in Wakanda. The suit is also comic book articulate to his debut gear in Marvel Comics.

In the MCU, Sam Wilson is from a South Louisiana fishing town, which is different than his Marvel Comics version, where he's from New York City. Anthony Mackie, who plays Wilson, is a native of New Orleans. Giving Louisiana full claim to Captain America right now.

Which is great, because he's not going anywhere. The new Cap is just getting started.

The Falcon & The Winter Soldier rebranded the series at the very end of the Season Finale to Captain America & The Winter Soldier, continuing the signals that there will be a Season 2 for the show on Disney+. But in addition to that, Falcon & The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman has now been attached to a Captain America 4 movie project. Meaning Sam Wilson will take the stars, stripes, and shield to the big screen as well.

There are very few official details for what Marvel will be planning for the new Captain America next, but at this point it doesn't matter. We're just jacked that Cap is local now.
