LSU’s Crazy Win Over Auburn Propels Them On In SEC Championship
The LSU Tigers are alive and well despite playing until 3 in the morning and getting minimal sleep before playing the Auburn Tigers who were well rested and ready to fight. In case you missed how they were able to walk-off Auburn Thursday afternoon 4-3, here it is:
In all my years of watching baseball, I had never seen anything like that before, a walk-off wild pitch that scores two runs.
LSU, battered, beaten, and bruised scratched and clawed their way to victory. They gained an early advantage on Auburn behind a very solid pitching performance from freshman Landon Marceaux over 6.2 innings.
Auburn then grabbed the lead with two runs in the top of the seventh before LSU came back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning. AU then plated a run in the eighth to take a 3-2 lead before the insanity ensued in the ninth for LSU. Here's another angle of the final play:
What a way to win a game or lose a game for that matter (sorry Auburn). The Tigers will play the loser of the Vanderbilt/Mississippi game, at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
