The Mamou High School football team recently honored one of their teammates after he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

Players, coaches, school personnel, and local dignitaries recently came together with Acadian Ambulance to present Justin Fontenot with a football during a special ceremony at Green Demon Stadium in Mamou.

Not only did Acadian Ambulance land an Airmed unit on the field during the presentation, they also presented Justin with a hat and his own pilot "wings."

The high school senior has missed out on his senior year with his team and he recently missed his Homecoming dance due to treatments. However, that did not stop the student body at Mamou High from electing him as their "Homecoming King!"

It was reported to me that the young lady who won "Homecoming Queen" went out of her way to visit Justin just so that he could have his official homecoming dance.

Justin not only has his teammates supporting him during his latest challenge, he's also got an entire community in his corner. And this why I love small communities like my hometown, Mamou.

I couldn't be prouder of Mamou High School and the entire community of Mamou. Justin, you have a lot of people in your corner---Not let's knock out cancer!!

You're such an inspiration to so many!!
