The news seems to be getting weirder every single day.  I just don't know how some people can do the things that they do to kids.

Fox News has a story about a Tulsa guy who was arrested after police says they found his 18-month-old child locked inside of a metal dog cage.  They also found  his 4-year-old child locked outside in the cold, and her dad was either "drunk/drugged or both" sleeping in a bed when police came banging on his door.

I just can't understand why people do this to their children.  If you want to be a drug head/alcoholic substance abuser, then let someone responsible raise your children.

The little 18-month-old was found in his own feces, the 4-year-old was outside knocking on the door trying to get dad's attention when the police were called.

The man was arrested on a child neglect complaint, and the kids are in the care of the Department of Human Services.

I just don't understand people who treat children like animals.  What will life be like for these children now and in the future?  Without adequate care and professional help will children of a substance-abusing father grow up healthy?  Look around.  We already know the answer to this.

All we can do is pray for these children, and we need to look around.  There are probably kids that you know that are being neglected/abused, and someone needs to speak for them.

I am so lucky to have the wonderful life I have.  I "got out", so to speak.  I was never subjected to something like this, but children need to be treasured, helped and someone needs to fight for them.  Let's hope the "system" can help these kids get the life they deserve.  Let's also hope this man can break the bonds of addiction.

So look around. Donate to shelters that help children.  Report child abuse.  Be a hero for some little person who can't help themselves.
