Mark Garber is one of the four men hoping to win the job as Lafayette's next Sheriff.

Garber joined Brandon Comeaux and Bernadette Lee of "Acadiana's Morning News" to talk about his qualifications for the job, his motivation for seeking the seat and this week's controversy concerning Lafayette as a sanctuary city.

Garber says he did not create any sanctuary city program, and disputes that desegnation for Lafayette.  He says policies that can be debated were created under current Sheriff Mike Neustrom, and everyone in the parish must follow the letter of the law.

Garber says his years of experience in law enforcement make him the most qualified man for the job and that's one of the main reasons he is seeking the post.

Garber, a native of Lafayette, says he enjoyed he employment with the United States Government, but it was time for him and his wife to move home to raise their two children.
