Joanne Rogers, the wife of children's television pioneer Fred "Mr." Rogers, has passed away.

According to the AP, Rogers, a concert pianist, passed away in Pittsburgh today at the age of 92.

 

Interviews in the documentary "Won't You Be My Neighbor" shed light on how influential she was in her husband's life and career, and it peeled back a few layers of mystery that had surrounded their lives. They seemed to be a fun, extremely loving couple.

After Fred's death, Joanne Rogers was instrumental in developing an early learning center in her husband's name in their hometown in western Pennsylvania.

Joanne and Fred Rogers had been married for more than 50 years at the time of his death in 2003.

Many will be forever grateful to Fred and Joanne Rogers for their great work in nurturing young minds.
