Changes are coming to the football program at New Iberia Senior High School. We know that to be a fact because the man who has been at the helm of the NISH program for the past 20 years is stepping down.

Coach Rick Hutson announced his plans to retire from the public school system and his head coaching position at NISH at the end of the school year.  In a prepared statement that was published on The Daily Iberian website, Hutson said,

This was perhaps the most difficult decision I have had to make at any point in my career. However, after meeting with the administration and board at Highland and after much prayer and reflection, I feel that this is the right thing to do for my family and me.

While Hutson is retiring from the public school system he is not leaving coaching. He will become the director of athletics and head football coach for Highland Baptist Christian School.
