NFL Hall of Famer and former LSU Tiger Y.A. Tittle passed away last night, according to multiple reports. He was 90 years old.

Tittle was surrounded by family at the time of his passing, according to LSU Deputy AD Verge Ausberry.

Born in Marshall, Texas, Tittle began playing quarterback at a young age. His neighbor was NFL and College Football Hall of Famer Sammy Baugh.

Tittle's attempts to emulate him proved successful, as he would go on to star in high school before playing collegiately at LSU in the mid 1940s.

He was a first-team All-SEC quarterback for the Tigers, setting passing records that weren't broken until the 1970s by Bert Jones.

Tittle was drafted 6th overall by the Detroit Lions in 1948, but elected to play for the Baltimore Colts of the All-American Football Conference. The Colts joined the NFL two years later, but soon folded.

Tittle was drafted again in 1951, going to the San Francisco 49ers where he became a multi-time Pro Bowler.

At age 34, he was traded to the New York Giants in 1961, where he played 4 more seasons.

He's a member of the 49ers Hall of Fame, while his jersey #14 is retired by the Giants.

With a trademark side-arm release, Tittle was a passing quarterback during an era when the game of football was dominated by running.

Nicknamed "The Bald Eagle", Tittle is in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the NFL Hall of Fame.

In his later years, Tittle struggled with dementia.
