North Vermilion High School senior, Mia Harrington, decided to use the coronavirus as part of her senior pictures. High school seniors, not just in Lafayette, but all across the country, are dealing with so many emotions as they have to miss out all of the end of the year senior activities like prom, award ceremonies, parties, and graduation. It's heartbreaking to know they can't have these memories. Some are angry, some are sad, some are understanding, and maybe a little of all of those things. I asked Mia how she felt about it and she said she thinks we are doing the right thing by closing the schools and practicing social distancing. But, at the same time, she is sad because she will never have these years again.

Mia said she isn't trying to be disrespectful or insensitive with her senior pictures. She said she is just trying to make the best out of the situation. After all, Covid -19 is a huge part of her high school senior year. It's history that she will be able to tell her grandchildren she was a part of.

Mia used her cell phone to do this very creative senior photo session. Thank you for sharing the pictures with us, Mia. I know it's a little early, but congratulations!

I heard a lot of kids at my school saying that it was stupid because we wouldn’t die from it because we are young, but that’s not the point, the point is to stop the spread so no one else dies. I feel like it is unfair and fair at the same time. -Mia Harrington
