Despite the partisan back-and-forth in Washington, DC, a Democrat was invited to the Trump Administration’s first State Dinner.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards was invited to the dinner to honor French President Emmanuel Macron. The dinner, which has been meticulously planned by First Lady Melania Trump, is set to take place at the White House tomorrow night. It should be no surprise given New Orleans’ tri-centennial celebration and the state's ties to France.

Governor Edward’s office first confirmed the trip in a statement on Monday to CNN.
