Opelousas Police Can No Longer Afford Security For Special Events
Police in Opelousas say they can't afford to patrol for parades and other special events.
Chief Perry Gallow tells the Board of Alderman providing security for festivals, parades, and other events will cost 20-thousand dollars this year, and his department doesn't have the money. Typically, officers working these events are paid by overtime and the police department.
