New Orleans scored nine runs in the first three innings and went on to defeat the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 10-3 Tuesday night at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

UNO (10-5) jumped on Cajuns' starter Blake Schultz (2-1) for four runs in the first inning on a walk, two extra base hits and an error.  Only one of the runs was earned.

The Cajuns got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Hayden Cantrelle singled, went to second on a balk by UNO starter Bailey Holstein and scored on Brennan Breaux's single.

But the Privateers came right back, scoring three runs on four consecutive hits in the second inning before Connor Cooke came in to get out of the inning.  Cooke gave up a pair of runs in the third, but then pitched through the sixth without giving up another run.

Louisiana(6-10) had its chances, loading the bases in the fifth and seventh innings with one out but left all six runners stranded.  UNO added a run in the eighth against redshirt freshman Logan Savoy before the Cajuns finally broke through with a bases loaded two run single by Jonathan Windham to round out the scoring.

Brayson Smith (1-1) who got a double play ball to get out of the fifth inning jam got the win for UNO.

Cajun pitchers gave up 12 hits and seven earned runs, walking five and striking out five.  UNO pitchers gave up eight hits, with five walks and three hit batsmen, but the Cajuns stranded 12 runners.

Louisiana takes on Southern Miss tomorrow night at Russo Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
