COVID-19 vaccinations are on the rise, but there are still a lot of people who are genuinely undecided about getting the shot.

A local frontline doctor is doing her part to help you make the best choice for yourself when it comes to getting a COVID vaccine, and it will take you less than a minute to see the pros and cons of the vaccination.

Dr. Britni Hebert, MD is a Lafayette native but she has seen the worst of COVID, volunteering in some of the hardest-hit areas of the country during the pandemic while also seeing firsthand the damage that this virus has done here in our Acadiana area.

The Lafayette doctor took 48 seconds out of her day to post a video to Facebook that includes an extremely simplified comparison of "real pros and cons" for anyone who is still on the fence when it comes to getting vaccinated.

Of course, there is LOTS of information (and misinformation) about the vaccine floating around out there, but the biggest deterrent for a lot of the people I've personally spoken with has been fear.

Fear of needles. Fear of some adverse reaction. Fear that they will get the virus or similar symptoms based on experiences they've heard from others.

This is why information from medical professionals like Dr. Hebert is important. I'm not sure about you, but I will definitely give more credibility to a Yale-educated doctor than an unconfirmed update from a random account that my cousin's babysitter's best friend shared on Facebook.

I will also share that I'm 4 weeks vaccinated (Johnson & Johnson) and I've experienced zero side effects. I truly consider myself to be one of the lucky ones because I know everyone's experience with the vaccination is unique, but as Dr. Hebert said, no matter what your side effects may look like, it's still nothing remotely close to what she's seen from the COVID patients she has treated or those who weren't lucky enough to make it.

Whatever you decide, make sure it's the best decision for YOU and YOUR family.
