Sometimes as human beings, we can complain when road work is not done, and we can complain when road work is being done, because of the time it may take away from us if we drive in those areas, and we are slowed down.

Coming up on Tuesday, June 2, which is Tuesday, there will be some repairs to the railroad in Lafayette, and because of that, there will be some slight travelling disruptions in a few areas in downtown Lafayette.

The contractor for the work, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, will be making repairs to the railroad all on the same day. Tuesday's work by BNSF is expected to last several hours, so you may have to take a different route if you are around Lee Avenue. The railroad company says, in a press release from Lafayette Consolidated Government, that there will be detour signs around the work zone.

The railroad crossing repairs will begin at 7 o'clock on Tuesday morning, and the crew will be working on the crossing through 5 o'clock Tuesday evening.

The area of Lee Avenue where they will be working is on Lee Avenue between the area of East Cypress Street and South Chestnut Street in Lafayette's downtown area.

Lafayette Consolidated Government's Public Works Department does note, in the press release, that all access to local roads will be maintained for the duration of Tuesday's project.

Several intersections and roadways in Lafayette's downtown along with the north side of town are impacted by railroad crossings.
