Renovations to the main Lafayette Library have been underway since May of 2013 and delays have hampered completion. The original three story building will now have 20,000 new books added to the current inventory and public access computers will increase to 75 from the current 38. Modernization of the building at a cost of slightly over $10 million was part of a $40 million bond measure approved by voters in 2002. In addition to the renovations of the main library four new regional branches were approved.
