Rio 2016 Update: Police Unpaid, Super Bacteria On The Beaches
Welcome to Rio, where the policemen aren't paid, the water is infected with Zika and other diseases, and oh yeah, they just found super bacteria on the beaches.
That's right, super bacteria on the beaches. You can't make this stuff up, folks.
Speaking of terrifying news out of Rio, the police are publicly protesting the fact that they haven't been paid properly for their services. Security is a massive issue at Olympic events, so news like this should make anybody headed to Rio concerned for their well-being.
This is a full-on disaster. We were worried about Rio 2016, but did anybody expect it to get this bad?
Think of the horrific possibilities. If something goes wrong in Rio, they aren't prepared to handle it. With the current international climate, it leaves them completely exposed to all types of terror. At this point, all you can do is pray nothing awful happens...because Rio won't be able to stop it if it does.
Athletes and experience seekers alike are passing on what should be an opportunity of a lifetime, but it makes perfect sense. Representing your country as an Olympian is a privilege and an honor, but nobody should be forced to literally risk their life for a sport.
There's a part of me that hopes once the games start, we will all get to watch a beautiful spectacle. Unfortunately, now I'm just preparing for the worst.
