Saints Draft CB Marshon Lattimore With #11 Pick In NFL Draft
The 2017 NFL draft has said to be deep with defensive talent but that didn't stop the majority of the teams within the 1st 10 picks of the draft going with offense. The Saints had a dream board when they realized a lot of the players that they were looking at had not been drafted yet.
They had an option to trade down to bulk up on picks or pick defense with their first pick, but they decided to stick with their gut and not make a trade. The Saints drafted Marshon Lattimore, cornerback from Ohio State University at the #11 pick who is said to be the top cornerback in the draft.
The Saints' biggest need in this draft was defense and they definitely believe they picked the right guy with their 1st of 2 picks in the 1st round. Lattimore will join his former Buckeyes teammate Michael Thomas on the Saints roster. The CB from Ohio State had 41 tackles and four interceptions for the Buckeyes in 2016.
Lattimore has had a history of injury problems, with a surgery on his hamstring in his redshirt year at Ohio State but if he remains healthy he could be the impact player the Saints are looking for. The NFL draft is something that most football players dream of and for Marshon Lattimore his dream has come true.
