An 18-year-old Scott man was arrested Wednesday night after a failed carjacking attempt.

According to Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton, Harold Sam forcefully removed his female victim from her car on East Gloria Switch and threw her to the ground.

Mouton said because the car had a manual transmission, Sam was unable to drive it. He ordered his victim to get back in the vehicle, but when she refused, he fled the area on foot.

Police found Sam a short time later, and he was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of attempted carjacking, attempted simple kidnapping, resisting and officer, and possession of marijuana.
