Louisiana State Parks have been closed for several weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak; this week, they've announced partial reopenings.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park is the one I noticed in my Facebook newsfeed:

Having a way to change up the coronavirus experience is a must for your mental well-being. Getting out of the house, getting some exercise, and enjoying what Louisiana has to offer can all help towards the goal of staying fit in mind and body.

It looks like Governor Edwards will be slowly reopening the state in phases and, until he does, we need to do all we can to keep from spiraling down into a dark place.

According to the Louisiana State Park website, all public buildings at the parks are, as of now, scheduled to be closed until May 15th. Visitors to state parks, now that the partial reopening is underway, can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, and other general activity daily from 8am to 5pm. Check the website for information on individual parks, as not all parks are open yet. All overnight facilities still remain closed.

Bayou Segnette, Chicot, and Lake Bistineau remain closed due to their use as regional isolation facilities; Grand Isle, North Toledo Bend, and South Toledo Bend remain closed per recommendation of local officials. - LA State Parks

As with any public outing, Louisiana State Parks reminds you that when you do visit, please respect others' space and practice social distancing.
