St. Martin Parish Declares State Of Emergency Due To Flooding Concern
Because of the imminent threat of flooding along the Mississippi and Atchafalaya River, St. Martin Parish President Chester Cedars has declared a State of Emergency for the parish.
Parish authorities say they've been preparing for this for several days, and both St. Martin Parish Government along with St. Martin Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will continue to monitor conditions in St. Martin Parish. In addition to the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers, parish authorities are monitoring related bodies of water that have the potential to cause flooding and subsequent damage because of flooding in lower St. Martin Parish.
Beginning Wednesday, sand bags will be available seven days a week from 8 AM til 5 PM at the Stephensville Park on Hwy. 70 in Stephensville - until further notice.
