The following is a report of the people who were booked into the St. Mary Parish Correctional Center for Monday, November 20, 2017:

NARCOTICS SECTION

Karlyn Knudsen, 59, 239 Jamie Court Lane, Morgan City, LA was arrested on November 17, 2017 at 3:45 pm for the following violations:

-     Stop signs and yield signs (violations)

-     Obstructed license plate

-     Proper equipment required

-     Expired license plate

-     Expired inspection sticker

-     Possession of Schedule IV (tramadol)

A narcotics detective patrolling Amelia observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Friendship Alley and Lake Palourde Road. The detective also observed that the vehicle had an obstructed license plate and missing side view mirror. The detective conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who was identified as Knudsen. The detective received consent to search the vehicle and located over 2 dozen tramadol pills. Knudsen was unable to provide a prescription for the drugs. The detective also found that the license plate and inspection sticker were expired on the vehicle. Knudsen was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

UNIFORMED PATROL SECTION

Jacob Zirlott, 34, 112 Oxford Loop, Franklin, LA was arrested on November 17, 2017 at 9:47 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt of court, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy responding to a separate complaint on Big Bear Lane in Franklin made contact with Zirlott and located the active warrant for his arrest. Zirlott was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. He was released on a $365 bond.

Michael Sweetser, Sr., 66, 436 Field Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on November 18, 2017 at 2:48 am for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, improper lane usage, and possession of Schedule I (marijuana). A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle traveling in the middle of the roadway on Field Road before moving completely into the oncoming lane of traffic. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Sweetser. While speaking with him, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Sweetser’s breath and body. The deputy performed a standardized field sobriety test. Sweetser conducted the test poorly and later registered a 0.162 grams percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Sweetser was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. During booking, Sweetser was found to be in possession of marijuana cigarette. Sweetser was released on a $4,750 bond.

Franklin Ortega, 24, 812 Cypress Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on November 18, 2017 at 5:30 am for domestic abuse battery (child endangerment law). A deputy responded to a call for service from a residence in Amelia regarding a disturbance in progress. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Ortega pushed a female victim and took her cell phone while yelling at her. A small child was present during the battery. Ortega was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. He was released on a $3,500 bond.

Juvenile male, 14, Franklin, LA was arrested on November 18, 2017 at 6:43 pm for ungovernable juvenile and criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a call for service regarding an ungovernable juvenile at a residence in the Franklin area. The deputy spoke with all parties involved including the juvenile who repeatedly cursed and yelled at the deputy and others. The juvenile was then detained in the rear of a police unit where he kicked the door and damaged the window of the unit. Following the investigation, the juvenile was release to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Cory Leblanc, 36, 133 Lagonda Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on November 18, 2017 at 9:28 pm on a warrant for failure to appear for a drug court status conference and failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy made contact with Leblanc at his residence and located the active warrant for his arrest. Leblanc was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $100,000.

Christopher Pollard, 32, 606 7th Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on November 19, 2017 at 12:12 am on 2 warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court and 3 warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family. A deputy made contact with Pollard at a residence on Lagonda Lane in Bayou Vista and located the active warrants for his arrest. Pollard was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
