The following is a list of the people who booked into the St. Mary Parish Jail for Friday, October 14, 2016:

Tony Trahan, 37, 595 Martinez Road, Church Point, LA was arrested on October 13, 2016 at 8:44 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, abuse of toxic vapors, driving under suspension, and speeding. While booking Trahan at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the warrant for his arrest. Bail is set at $7,500.

Clarence Sophus, 53, 124 Bogan Lane, Verdunville, LA was arrested on October 13, 2016 at 1:35 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, careless operation of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy located Sophus at his residence on the warrant and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Sophus was released on a $390 bond.

Darnell Ayro Sr., 33, 121 Edward Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on October 13, 2016 at 3:51 pm for the following offenses:

  • Improper lane usage
  • No driver’s license
  • Resisting an officer (with force or violence)
  • Resisting an officer (by giving false information)
  • Warrant for failure to pay annual registration fee as a sex offender and failure to provide community notice as a sex offender

A detective with the K-9 Unit observed a vehicle cross the fog line of Highway 90 in Bayou Vista and made a traffic stop. Additional deputies arrived to assist. The detective made contact with the driver, who identified himself by a false name. When another occupant exited the SUV, the detective observed the driver’s identification card inside the vehicle and positively identified the driver as Ayro. The detective then worked to detain Ayro pending further investigation. Ayro pulled away and fled on foot. The deputies located Ayro hiding in a nearby dumpster off of Universe Road. Continuing the investigation, the detective found that he was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license and located the active warrant for his arrest. In Iberia Parish in 2001, Ayro was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile (performing sexual immoral acts). A detective with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Compliance Division obtained the warrant after Ayro failed to pay the annual registration fee as a sex offender and failed to notify the community as a sex offender. Ayro was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Juvenile male, 14, Patterson, LA was arrested on October 13, 2016 at 6:51 pm for criminal mischief.

Juvenile male, 16, Patterson, LA was arrested on October 13, 2016 at 6:51 pm for criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy patrolling a subdivision in the Patterson area observed 2 young male subjects walking near the roadway. Shortly after, the deputy made contact with a resident who reported that mail boxes in the area had been tampered with. While speaking with the complaint, the deputy observed the 2 subjects running away. The deputy then located and made contact with the 2 juveniles. During the course of the investigation, the deputy found evidence that it was the juveniles who were opening mail boxes in the area. One of the juveniles was found to be in possession of a homemade pipe with burnt marijuana residence inside. Both juveniles were released to guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.

Jennifer Beecher, 31, 190 Beadle Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 13, 2016 at 10:45 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxication), resisting an officer, and possession of Schedule I drug. A deputy was dispatched to a request to check on the welfare of a person who appeared to be sleeping in a parked vehicle with the engine running in St. Mary Plaza in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that the subject was acting erratically causing a disturbance in one of the stores. The deputy made contact with the subject and identified her as Beecher. The deputy observed several signs of impairment including slurred speech. While attempting to speak with her, Beecher began yelling and cursing at the deputy. During the arrest, Beecher attempted to free herself by pulling away from the deputy. Continuing the investigation into the welfare concern complaint, deputies located a cigarette containing high grade marijuana inside the vehicle. Beecher was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Cody Grimball, 30, 611 3rd Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 13, 2016 at 10:59 pm on the following warrants:

  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, unlawful operation of an off-road vehicle, and failure to honor written promise to appear
  • Warrant for direct contempt, failure to stop at a stop sign, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license
  • Deputies located Grimball at his residence on the warrants and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $654.
