‘Star Wars’ Episodes 7, 8 and 9 Are the “Most Exciting,” Will Focus on Luke Skywalker?
It was announced yesterday that Disney purchased Lucasfilm and its subsidiaries for $4 billion, with plans to release the first movie ('Star Wars: Episode 7') in a new planned 'Star Wars' trilogy in 2015. Although the additional news that these films will be based on an original story and not on any of the spin-off book series like fans were hoping, we are reportedly still in for an exciting ride.
According to author Dale Pollock, who wrote a biography on filmmaker George Lucas, the upcoming 'Star Wars' trilogy from Disney will be the most exciting 'Star Wars' films yet. In a story over at The Wrap, George Lucas' biographer Dale Pollock is expressing some serious excitement over the upcoming trilogy.
Lucas reportedly wrote the outlines to 12 'Star Wars' stories in total and Pollock was able to read those outlines during a time when he was granted crazy amounts of access to Lucas and his studio -- unfortunately, Pollock also had to sign a confidentiality agreement, so while we can't know any specific details about the upcoming trilogy, Pollock says of the 12 stories he read, "The three most exciting stories were 7, 8 and 9. They had propulsive action, really interesting new worlds, new characters. I remember thinking, 'I want to see these three movies.'"
In addition, Pollock also revealed that 'Star Wars: Episode 7' and the two consecutive films "involve Luke Skywalker in his 30s and 40s, but Lucas was unlikely to turn to Mark Hamill, who played Luke in the original but whose performance left the director dissatisfied."
Pollock researched his book during the '80s and interviewed Lucas over 80 times, but the two had a falling out and Lucas did not approve of Pollock's plans. So basically what we have here is a guy who's made it his job to be a big fan of Lucas, just doing what comes naturally -- gushing over 'Star Wars.' But for real, you guys, 'Star Wars' episodes 7, 8 and 9 are going to be the best EVER.
