After splitting a hard fought series with Coastal Carolina over the weekend, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team hurried to get to the airport in Charleston, only to have the flight cancelled at the last minute.

The team now has to bus home.

According to Associate Head Coach Anthony Babineaux, there was a medical emergency that took place on the plane Saturday which involved 13 seats at the rear of the plane.  The plane was cleaned by the airline, put back into service and made at least one flight.  However, the crew said the cleaning was not acceptable, and, just before time to board, the decision was made to once again take the plane out of service.

'We were told the plane should have been taken out of service on Saturday in which case a different plane would have come in to handle the team's flight."

But that didn't happen.

Because of the size of the travel party (43), the team was told they might not be able to get a flight home for as long as two days.  Southwest Airlines put the team in a hotel Sunday night in Charleston.

The team left Charleston on a bus at 9:00 am (EDT) bound for Jacksonville for a change in drivers.

The Cajuns are scheduled to play LSU in Metairie in the annual Wally Pontiff Baseball Classic Tuesday night.  Babineaux, who handles all travel for the team, has secured rooms in Metairie for tonight.

This, coming after a travel day Thursday that saw the team bus to New Orleans, layover in Nashville, and bus from Charleston to Myrtle Beach, a span of 15 hours from the time they left the athletic complex Thursday morning.

The Tony Robichaux radio program scheduled for Pete's Family Sports Grill on Johnston Street will not take place tonight.
