The Sunset Herb & Garden Festival is scheduled for this weekend in Sunset.

According to the St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission, everything from plants to arts and crafts and even bath and body products will be available for sale. The event also features a "Kid's Corner" with lots of activities geared directly toward children, including educational stuff like speaking with beekeepers and agricultural vendors.

The annual festival is organized each year by the Sunset Garden Club and, on the plant side of the festival, you'll find fresh herbs, native plants, flowers, and herbal products.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to several different causes that members of the Sunset Garden Club believe in, including

  • Sunset Sertoma Club
  • Dreams Come True of Louisiana
  • St. Jude Children's Hospital
  • St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers
  • Susan Koman Breast Cancer Foundation
  • Miles Perret Cancer Services
  • Cops & Kids Outdoor Activities
  • Alzheimer Association.

Also, as part of the event, 3 different Master Gardeners are expected to make presentations.
