The old 80s hairstyle trend is back and in full-force if you haven’t noticed. The hairstyle that is short in the front and long in the back, is where the old joke, “business in the front, party in the back” came from and it’s made a serious come-back. As a matter of fact, it might be bigger than it was in past years because now you even have some women rockin' it.

You’ll see everyone from football players, fashionistas, musicians, and cowboys all rocking the mullet. Think about how many times the mullet has made it’s rounds with celebs. The mullets that stand out most for me were worn by David Bowie, Little Richard, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, and Billy Ray Cyrus. The crazy thing is now Billy Ray’s daughter, Miley Cyrus, is rocking one.

Australian golfer, Cameron Smith, debuted his mullet earlier this year and his mullet is getting a lot of attention right now. Here’s why. He made a promise to his girlfriend that he would cut it off if he won the PGA Tour event because she is not a fan of his hairstyle. Now, he’s going back on his promise and saying, “I’ll apologize to my girlfriend, it’s not going away. I mean, it’s part of me now. It makes people laugh. I love it.”

I was thinking maybe Joe Exotic from ‘Tiger King’ is behind the return since everyone binged the show during the pandemic. Apparently, it was working it’s way back before that. In a Men’s Health article, a hairstylist in New York City by the name of Magda Ryczko says that the mullet hairstyle started inching it’s way back into trendiness a few years ago. Magda has been cutting mullets for her trendy Brooklyn-based clientele for years now.

Just look around Acadiana. You’ll see a mullet here and there, especially among our teens.
