Once again we are saddened by the death of child left unattended in a car.  Today we reported on an 11-month-old child being left alone and dying in a car.  Trooper Stephen Hammons appeared on 'Mornings With Ken & Bernie' today and stressed the danger of children left alone in cars.

Hammons said,

"People don't think it's going to happen to them.  But you have to be prepared to care for your child in weather extremes.  It is imperative that parents do not leave a child alone in a vehicle without adult supervision."

Even in more moderate weather conditions Hammons said children should not be left unattended because they can get out of a child seat, start the car, place the transmission in drive or get out of the car completely.

We also discussed the dangers of texting while driving with Trooper Hammons who informed us that while driving while texting is illegal but typing entries into a contact list is not.
