Two Arrested In St. Mary Parish On Drug & Other Charges

A car crash leads a St. Mary Parish deputy to arrested two people on drug and other charges.

A deputy went out to Highway 90 in Morgan City to investigate a single vehicle crash, when he found 17-year-old Tyrique Jones, the passenger in the car, tried to run away.

The deputy caught Jones, and he found a gun hidden in his pant leg along with some small bags of marijuana on Jones.

24-year-old Chandler Williams was also arrested.

Jones was arrested for the following:

• Possession of Schedule I (marijuana with intent to distribute)
• Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
• Resisting an officer

Williams was arrested for the following:

• Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) 3rd offense
• Probation violation
