Two Killed In Boating Accident In New Iberia

Saturday, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a crashed boat in the Port of Iberia. The boat crashed and caught on fire about two miles away from the boat landing.

After the fire was extinguished, divers investigated and found two bodies, a father and son. They were identified by the Iberia Parish Coroner as Leon D. Ortemond Sr. and Leon D. Ortemond Jr, both from Abbeville.

The cause of the crash has not been determined yet, but the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating.
