A redistricting concept agreed to by US House delegates would maintain two congressional districts in northern Louisiana. Quitman Congressman Rodney Alexander says an agreement reached by MOST of the state's congressional delegates would keep two northern Louisiana districts intact. Alexander says he and fellow state Congressmen agree on a plan to recommend to state lawmakers, for their redistricting session next month. The Louisiana Legislature will actually decide the new congressional district map. Louisiana delegates’ recommendations will be taken in consideration during those proceedings. Alexander breaks down what they propose. (New Iberia Rep. Jeff Landry reportedly does NOT agree with the proposal, which could result in his district being dissolved) Alexander says the population north of I-10 has grown in the 2010 Census and merits representation by two congressmen. He says one of the state's 7 districts has to go, and the plan he and five other Louisiana delegates agreed on makes sense.(That plan would likely mean Jeff Landry and Charles Boustany competing for the one US House seat.)
