The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services has a third party contractor who handles transactions for their Electronic Benefits Cards.

Xerox, the company that does the transactions, says they will be doing system maintenance at around 11 p.m. on Monday, August 25, meaning the network will be down for about five minutes.

During that time, no transaction will be approved and anyone trying to use their cards will receive a declined message.

DCFS contracts with Xerox for these benefits:

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps),
Cash benefit payments through Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP)
Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP)

DCFS officials want clients to know that if they are declined, they should wait a few minutes and try again.

If the maintenance lasts longer than five minutes, DCFS wants to remind retailers that there are already established policies and procedures in place that they should follow.

Any retailer who has questions can call 866-880-5264.
