2 Separate Crashes Across Acadiana; 1 Person Dies, 1 Person Arrested
One man dies in a single vehicle crash on one end of Acadiana; another man gets arrested in an alleged hit-and-run.
In Evangeline Parish, State Police spokesman Master Trooper Brooks David says 22-year-old Brett M. Fontenot of Ville Platte ran off the right side of US 167 while going northbound, hit a ditch and overturned. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his truck. State Police continue to investigate to determine if impairment was a factor.
In St. Mary Parish, 40-year-old William Druilhet of Baldwin is behind bars for an alleged hit-and-run. He faces charges of Hit and Run Driving, Improper Lane Usage, Suspension; Revocation and Cancellation of Licenses, Use of Certain Wireless Telecommunications Devices for Text Messaging Prohibited.
