3rd Circuit Court Rules In Pat Cooper’s Favor After 2014 Firing
Sources tell KPEL News the state's 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of former Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Pat Cooper, who was fired in 2014 by the Lafayette Parish School Board in a 7-2 vote.
Dr. Cooper was denied his appeal by the 3rd Circuit in November 2016 as he sought either reinstatement or compensation for the remaining one year that was left on his contract when he was fired. That court consisted of Judge Jimmie Peters, Judge Jimmy Genovese and Judge John E. Conery, who dissented.
The court now consists of Judge Conery, Chief Judge Ulysses Gene Thibodeaux and Judge Van H. Kyzar, who all ruled in Dr. Cooper's favor on Wednesday.
