Four people are now in police custody for the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Kendall Thompson, Jr. of Jeanerette following the arrest of two suspects in Rapides Parish last night. Interim Jeanerette Police Chief Fernest Martin says authorities were able to track the remaining suspects to north Louisiana.

“While we were head toward north Louisiana, we were able to track that they were coming towards us.  Being familiar with the area, I was able to contact the Rapides Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and we were able to apprehend these suspects,” said Martin.

George Bobb and McClellan Molo, both 19, have since been transported back to Iberia Parish. Previous arrests over the weekend netted 21-year-old Rondrick Grant and 20-year-old Travlon Dauphine.

Martin says a crime of this nature is always tragic, adding it brings relief to know that the last of the suspects in the case have been nabbed.

“You want to try to bring the case to closure as quick as you can where you know you can probably curtail any further incidents or fatalities,” said Martin.

Martin says investigators are still searching for answers as to why the shooting happened.

“We still are unsure of the exact motive but I do have intel that the two guys had been arguing the week prior and that was the motive,” said Martin.

Thompson died Friday night following the shooting that happened near the intersection of MLK Drive and Guiberteau Street.
